SukudoPrivacy policy
This policy explains what the Sukudo apps (e.g. "Sukudo: İngilizce Kelime") and sukudo.app do with information. In short: an account is optional, we don't track you, we show no ads and we don't sell data.
Information that stays on your device
Your favorites, word lists, quiz results (correct and wrong answers per word), streak and settings (theme, reminder time, speech preferences) are stored on your device. Without an account they are never sent to us (with an account, see below for what is sent). Deleting the app deletes them. "Reset test statistics" in Settings deletes the statistics at any time.
Word list updates
The app contacts our server to download new words. The request only says which language you are learning and which language the app is shown in; nothing that identifies you is sent.
Word suggestions
If you use "Suggest a word", the word, meaning and note you type, the languages involved and the app version are stored on our server. This record is not linked to your name, e-mail or device. We use it only to improve the word list. Please don't type personal information into the form.
If our server can't be reached, the suggestion is sent with your approval through your device's mail app. We then see your e-mail address and use it only to reply to you.
Notifications and speech
Daily reminders are scheduled on your device; no server is involved. Words are read aloud by Apple's on-device speech engine.
Web app
In the web app on sukudo.app, your favorites, lists, streak and settings are stored in your browser (localStorage) and are not sent to us unless you have an account; clearing your browser data deletes them. Pages and the word list are kept in the browser cache so the app opens without a connection. Speech uses your browser's own speech engine; some browsers (e.g. Chrome's online voices) may send the word being read to their own servers.
Accounts (optional)
The app and the website work without an account. If you create one (with Apple on iPhone, with Apple or e-mail on the web), your progress moves between your devices. For this we store on our server: your account ID, your e-mail address if you signed in with e-mail (or the address Apple shares, which can be a private relay address), your favorites, your word lists and their words, your review schedule (which word to review when), the days you reached your goal, and your nickname if you set one. We use this only to send it back to your own devices, never for ads or tracking.
You can delete your account at any time in Profile > Account > "Delete account". The account and all its data on the server are deleted right away; what is on your device or in your browser stays. Signing out does not delete data.
Service providers
- Supabase: word database, suggestions and accounts (servers in Frankfurt, Germany). Sign-in e-mails are sent through Supabase.
- Vercel and Cloudflare: hosting and domain of this website.
- Apple: app distribution. Apple's own analytics and crash reports are shared only if you allowed them in your device settings, under Apple's privacy policy.
Tracking and ads
The app shows no ads, contains no analytics or tracking tools and does not combine your data with data from other companies' apps or websites.
Children
Sukudo is suitable for learners of all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
To exercise your rights under the GDPR or Turkey's KVKK (access, correction, deletion, etc.), write to support@sukudo.app. Suggestions are not linked to your identity, so describing the suggestion you want removed is enough.
Changes
If this policy changes, the current version is published on this page and important changes are announced in the app. The date at the top shows the latest update.
